Wheeeeeeew, and me just came back from the offline event "Winterfest 2009", a comics and animation related convention, at Chihuahua, Mexico; the funniest thing of it was that it was more of a "Artist alley convention" or as some friends put it, a "Massive Devmeet"; here's a short account of what happened those 4 days:

FRIDAY:
The Flight day. The four of us were going to be on the same plane and in neighbouring seats at that!. Due to nervousness and plain excitement, we slept merely a couple of hours, and since the plane had to lift off at 7 am, we had to wake up at 3-4 am, then get together at the airport (2 hours car-drive in my case).....

When I arrived to the airport, the rest of the group was already at the waiting room.....except for , who was at her 5th metal-detection revision XD

Then we got the advice that the flight was going to be delayed for an hour due to technical reasons.......

We killed off some time by showing off our goods to be sold at the con, and flipping through some art books and stuff XD

When we arrived to Chihuahua later that day, we got to the hotel, were the reservation name got mixed up....apparently Chutkat and I have a lovechild who came from the future to reserve us a room XDDDD or something like that.

.......And at that!!! they gave us the key to a wrong room!, we got a very...shocking surprise when we opened the door XD. They got that problem solved and when we finally got the right room, we fell asleep in less than 2 minutes. Apparently, the room-number mess was still around since they opened our door twice, without advice, while we were still sleeping....XD

A bit later, arrived to greet us and take us to a delicious chinese food restaurant, then to the arena (the convention was going to be set at a concert-pub-hall thingie, cowboy style! ), we helped by taking the pub's chairs to a big balcony and replacing them with the dealers and artists' tables and chairs instead. Then we went with to the print office to get some stickers done, and after that we went back to the hotel to order some pizzas and wait for more buds to arrive to the city. and came to stay at our room for the night, where a pillow attack aimed to Brocoli was caused by Greki for not shutting up very late at night XDDDD. The attack failed and Tozani got the attacks instead XDD.

Then the motherly Chutkat told us to sleep immediately and we obeyed.

SATURDAY:
We woke up at 4 am to dress up and look for a 24-hour grocery store for breakfast....but then we wandered for about an hour and found nothing open. We came back to the hotel to prepare our goods and art-gear for commissions. The transportation service from the hotel then took us to the arena, and then we finally found a grocery store open and we had breakfast there (driedfishftw!!)
We were required to be at the arena at 6 am to register, set up our table signs and merchandise.

We had then the event opening hosted by the Mayor, and the show starts!
Saturday was a very busy day: I sold prints, stickers, buttons, and a bit of customized promo items like mechanical pencils, lead refills, dice-shaped erasers with my art, my name and URL printed on them.

A thing I found funny is that I was constantly mistaken for a regular dealer! People was very skeptical that I drew everything that was on my table, even though I was drawing right in front of them!! (apparently the cause of it was that the drawings were of radically different subjects:dinosaurs, dragons, galaxies, fan art, anthro, horror....)

Then we met the voice actors for the Latin american version of Dragon Ball Z (Adult Goku and Vegeta), SlamDunk (Hanamichi Sakuragi ) and Saint Seiya (Hyoga and Seadragon Kanon), who made an awesome show with their talents and then held a mini contest: the longest "HAAAAAAA" (in reference to the kamehameha), I found some videos of it with a contestant dressed up as Master Roshi from Dragon Ball:

FUN STUFF: I'll have to agree with about the creepy bathrooms.....I wonder who thought it was a good idea to have semi-naked actors and actresses plastered right in front of the toilets and urinals!!????? and looking right at you!!?? D8/

After the event was over for that day, we were invited to a huge dinner with all the staff, artists, dealers and voice actors at a local restaurant, serving their popular dishes of grilled meat and tortilla, Chihuahua style!. The restaurant was nearly filled with us XD; hahah.

After dinner, we headed back to the hotel, where we talked about our experiences at the con XD then fell asleep shortly after that.

SUNDAY:

We woke up at 5:30 am to dress and get ready again, and took us to a S-mart where we had breakfast (cucumberlemonsugarjuiceftw!)

It was a quieter day, sales-wise, since the attendants were focused on the cosplay and karaoke events, BUT, the hilarious thing about it was that at the end of the cosplay contest, every contestant went on stage and performed a massive Caramelldansen:

At the end of the day, we all got together to chat about the event, and then went back to the hotel to leave our things and listen to ghost stories, adventures and misadventures by and , then we exchanged our leftover goods (thanks a lot, guys!), then we suddenly were surprised by a rain of fireworks right in front of our hotel window (celebrating the 300th anniversary of Chihuahua); just when the show started, and arrived to our room to join the visual show; then after it was over, and joined and brought us hamburgers and nacho cheese-covered fries, while we talked until late at night about the local artworld and their characters, and exchanged more artsy goods...

MONDAY:
We woke up at 4 am to pack and get ready for the trip to the airport, and me were talking at the

airport while we were waiting for our flights, then we came across the voice actors and said goodbye to them, we bought some souvenirs (I had to get one specially for my mother, since she had her birthday that day) and then just when we were near to get into the plane, a strong storm came and took over the airport, causing the flight to be delayed until further notice.....we were starving and were uncertain about the final flight hour,
and got Chutkat to bring us a smoked ham packet from the outer butchery since the food at the airport was a total ripoff....(9USD for a stupid sandwich!! and 6 USD for a small bag of chips!!! give me a break!)....so....we had...ham rolls...and some pumpkin seeds for breakfast for 6 USD XD.

We arrived at 12 pm, went to pick us up at the airport, then we went to eat more chinese food as a thanks, then went to 's house to chat some more, then I finally left, arrived home, and died for the rest of the day XD.


I'm keeping the funniest moments of the event, since we listed all the hilarious things that happened, to be made a mini comic collab! stay tuned!
